What People Don’t Understand About Worldschooling

Out of the mouth of babes:

So our 9 yr. old nephew comes to visit us while we have some downtime in the States and like every time he interrogates our kids as to their age and grade. Well as a homeschooler/ worldschoolers we don’t really make a big deal about grade. So Malaki answers,

“Well I am in 6th grade math, 8th-12th grade electives, 7th grade English. But I think, as a 10 year old, I would be going into 5th grade.”

My nephew turns to me,

“I just wish your kids were in real school.”

I laugh,

“Well our school is real enough. Why is it important that they go to public school?”

He answers,

“Because that’s not fair that I get to go to real school and they are just doing fake school!”

I feel like that he is not far off from the logic that many adults think of worldschooling… it looks fun but it is not fair or practical…

“Naah… I think we are ok with our fake school. 😅”

Then he says,

“so y’all are homeless?”

My daughter Jeadon chimes in

“no, not the kind of homeless you’re thinking where you’re begging for alms”

He says,

“so you don’t live on the street then?”

Jeadon:

“no we basically go form house to house.”

Nephew:

“so you are homeless” 😅😂
